An arrangement of objects that belonged to my father. I photographed them for his memorial service in 2018 after he lost his battle with cancer. This portrait concentrates the many aspects of his life into one space and captures his passions and personal relationships. His love for sailing began in his childhood, a passion he shared with his two brothers and his dad – who died when my father was in his early 20s, of the same type of cancer that he eventually died from. His mother, whom he cared for throughout his life. The catholic faith that gave him strength, even in the bitter end. His humour and deep roots in his home (or "Heimat") in Franconia. And his son, with whom he spent every weekend.
